I’m a bestselling author, mindfulness coach, and neuroscience junkie. I often teach meditation at Google and have worked on curriculum development for SIYLI. In 2015 I published a popular step-by-step guide for people who want to learn mindfulness without religion, called The Mindful Geek.
I was editorial director of Sounds True for many years, have authored the book Nondualism: A Brief History of a Timeless Concept, and co-authored (with Peter Baumann) the book Ego, and edited such books as bestseller Hardwiring Happiness by Rick Hanson and Dream Tending by Stephen Aizenstat and the upcoming book The Science of Enlightenment by Shinzen Young. My most recent big project was as the editor-in-chief of Being Human, a site for exploring what evolution, neuroscience, biology, psychology, archeology, and technology can tell us about the human condition.
From Zen temples in Japan to yogi caves in India, I’ve been meditating for almost thirty-five years and have extensive experience in both Buddhist and Hindu practice., and now live in Berkeley, California, where I write a blog about mindfulness meditation called Deconstructing Yourself.
